We chose this spot as the exterior looked inviting and the menu was extensive, interesting and reasonably priced.
We were shown to a table at the back where there's an impressive underfloor botanical arrangement. Great for an Instagram pic!
We dived into the menu and managed to limit our choices as we could have ordered an obscene amount based on the flavour profiles available.
We started with chicken karage and tempura king prawns. No complaints there. Both were generously portioned, well cooked and amazingly tasty.
We then moved onto a range of sushi.(Chicken & mango katsu #23, Chicken peanutbutter & fig #30, Tokyo : scampi, chives, coriander, mango & avocado #71)
The Tokyo sushi was my partners favourite. Light, fresh and flavourful. I wouldn't recommend #30 as I felt the peanutbutter balance wasn't quite right, slightly overpowering.
I had a don burri bowl of 'spicy' beef. It was a huge portion, very visually appealing with peppers, onions, tender beef in a delicious sauce on a bed of fluffy rice. For my own palate it felt quite mild on the spice element. That wasn't unsurprising as our experience in Belgium in general has been that spice levels are subdued compared to the UK. It was a bowl of warm comfort and absolutely deliciously tasty.
Perhaps it's a cultural disparity but we felt we were attempting to engage with the servers for quite a while upon finishing to package up the remaining elements and pay the bill. The electronic payment system was down, (we were informed prior to being seated) so we paid by bank transfer.
